What is a Visual Journal?

Visual Journals are ongoing, uniquely personal, multi-dimensional records of our day-to-day experiences. Explore a myriad of art techniques, page preparations, innovative collages of text and pictures. Whether the images are symbolic or realistic, constructed with careful thought or accidentally from the seat-of-the-pants improvisation, each page chronicles a memory. Our daily excursions, shopping expeditions, mundane memos and receipts provide the inspiration because art is not just something we do, it is something we must do to express who we are.

Collaborative Projects

Calling all Visual Journal-ists! Our collaborative projects bring together the wealth of talents that is our Visual Journal family - draw inspiration from other artists, share your unique perspective, and come together to celebrate the final masterpiece that is truly more than the sum of its parts!

Book Club
An image is truly worth a thousand words! Read this month's book, then recreate it visually in your journal - a favorite passage, memorable character, lingering scent or flavor, exotic locale - the choice is up to you. Bring your own journal and journaling materials.

Fee: 1,500yen (coffee and pastry included)
